second herbicide treatment: Thursday, june 27, 2013
Below is the legal notice for treatment of Lower Bolton Lake next Thursday, June 27. Indian Notch Park will be closed that day. Aquatic Control Technology (ACT) reported that samplings and the Sonar herbicide levels are about where they expected them to be. Even with the heavy rains, there is still an active amount of Sonar in the lake, but the timing is right for a booster treatment.
The effects on the plants also looked good. ACT reported that all of the naiad they pulled up had white tips and the stems are beginning to lose their integrity. Overall the biomass of naiad is fairly low, indicating that the plants have essentially stopped growing since the initial treatment.
Aquatic Control included the use of copper sulfate. At minimum, they would like to use a low dose of copper sulfate along with the Sonar treatment. Water will maintain its natural level for the remainder of the season.
